Calmar Elementary PTA
Dear Calmar Elementary Parents and Families,
As we begin another school year, we wanted to take a moment to explain what the PTA is,
what we do for our school, and how you can get involved.
What is the PTA?
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a group of parents, caregivers, teachers, and school
community members who work together to support our students, staff, and school. We help
organize events, fundraising, student activities, and projects that make Calmar Elementary a
great place for our kids. The money we raise goes back into our school community.
What Does the PTA Do?
• Organizes the Hot Lunch Program
• Plans and supports school and family events
• Runs fundraisers such as popcorn, bottle drives, Fill Your Freezer, and other activities
• Helps with events such as the Christmas Market and Mother's Day Market
• Supports playground, outdoor, and recreation projects
• Supports teachers, classrooms, and school needs
• Provides teacher and staff appreciation
• Helps provide special activities and experiences for students
PTA AGM and Voting
You do not have to take a position on the PTA to attend and vote. Any parent or guardian
is welcome to come to the meeting, learn more, ask questions, and have their voice heard. We
also welcome anyone who would like to take on a position or become more involved. Previous
PTA experience is not required.

• Treasurer - some bookkeeping or accounting experience is preferred
• 6 Director Positions
We Are Always Looking for Volunteers!
You do not have to be a board member to be involved with the PTA. We are always looking for
parents and family members who are willing to volunteer their time and help with events, hot
lunches, fundraisers, and other school activities.
Even if you can only help once in a while, we would love to have you! Every bit of help
makes a difference.
We Would Love to See You!
Whether you have been involved with the PTA before or have never attended a meeting, you
are welcome. Come out, learn what we do, meet other parents, vote, and see how you can be
part of our school community.
The next meeting is our AGM and is scheduled for Sept 8 @ 6:30pm. The first meeting of the year will be
scheduled after that.
