November Principals

Principal's Corner – November

Time is going by quickly! We have already completed two months of school, and Parent-Teacher Conferences are happening this week!

Parent-Teacher Conferences & Student Learning

Grades 1 to 5 teachers will be sharing information about the Alberta Education literacy and numeracy screeners that students completed in September. This is a great opportunity to connect with your child's teacher, ask questions, and learn more about how the school year is progressing.

November is also a great time to check in with your child about how they feel they are doing at school. Regardless of their grade, I encourage you to have conversations about their learning, what they enjoy, and where they feel they might need some help. It is never too early to show your child that you are interested and invested in their success!

You can also continue to monitor your child's progress through PowerSchool as we work toward the end of our first term in January.

Halloween Fun!

Our Halloween Parade in the gym was a highlight for students and staff! Each class had the opportunity to show off their costumes, and there were plenty of creative and fun ideas on display. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the day!

Crosswalk Safety

As we move further into November, mornings will remain darker for longer. We will continue to reinforce crosswalk safety with students using our crossing helpers. We ask families and drivers to slow down, watch for students, and remain especially alert around crosswalks and school entrances. Keeping our students safe is a shared responsibility!

Remembrance Day

Our Remembrance Day Ceremony will take place on Friday, November 6, at 10:30 a.m. This is an important opportunity for our school community to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by the men and women who served our country and those who continue to protect our freedoms. We look forward to honouring and remembering together.

Staying Connected!

Thank you for taking the time to read the Principal's Corner each month. Our goal is to share important school information, upcoming dates, and celebrations happening throughout Calmar Elementary.

I am also happy to share that we will be reactivating the Calmar Elementary School Facebook page! We will use this page to share school celebrations, student successes, and some of the wonderful things happening in our school community. We look forward to connecting with you there!

Warm regards,

Carla Fisher

Principal
