Monday’s Partial Solar Eclipse
On Monday, April 8, there will be a partial solar eclipse in our area. It is expected to begin at 11:54 a.m., peak at 12:46 p.m. and finish by 1:39 p.m. For many of our schools, this partial solar eclipse will occur over lunch hour.
The timing of the upcoming eclipse – over the lunch hour – means students would be playing outdoors for lunch recess and may not take the necessary safety precautions to protect themselves. Students are being encouraged to not look directly at the sun as this can lead to solar retinopathy, permanently damaging the retina’s light-sensitive cells.
Out of an abundance of caution, our elementary schools will be adjusting their schedules and activities that day to keep students indoors during the time of the eclipse.

At CES, we will be having indoor recess at the lunch recess and then having an outdoor recess at the end of the day.

The Gr. 5/6 Boys’ Floor Hockey Tournament will be held on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13 at Corinthia Park School in Leduc.
The next ‘Caught You Being Kind’ Assembly will be held on Tuesday, April 9 at 9:45.
