Mindfully Making Healthy Lunches
Healthy Schools and Mental Health Capacity Building are teaming up with the Leduc Food Bank to offer sessions on making Healthy Lunches.
Calmar Elementary School and Calmar Secondary School are pleased to host the sixth session of Mindfully Making Healthy Lunches on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 5:30-7:30 pm. The first hour of our program the kids will be participating in physical literacy games with volunteer students and FSLWs, while parents learn more about mindfulness and nutrition. After which time we will get the kids back in and we will eat, as well as have them make their lunch for the next day. We will provide a couple of salads with the recipes as well as a variety of fruit, veggies, grains and other ingredients for sandwiches. The Food Bank will also provide lunch kits for the kids who don’t already have one, to put together their lunch for the next day.
The main focus for the evening is to:
- Look after your children for the first hour.
- Feed you all a light dinner.
- Provide your children with a lunch for the next day.
We hope to have about 7-8 families in attendance.
As the MHCB mandate is promotion and prevention, we are wanting to help families who routinely have students coming to school without a lunch, or who have expressed difficulties around lunch preparation. This free session being offered is a solution-focused approach to making healthy lunches.
Since space is limited, registrations will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. If you are interested in participating in this session, please forward your name, phone number, email, and ages of your children for registration to: firstname.lastname@example.org n
o later than Wednesday, February 21st.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at the school.
