Grade 6 April 26, 2017 Field Trip Information

The Grade 6 class will be visiting the Alberta Legislature on Wednesday, April 26.  See below for information and the itinerary:

April 8, 2017

Dear Parents:

Our Grade 6 students will visit the Alberta Legislature on Wednesday April 26, 2017. This field trip is a great experience for our students and is directly related to our year-long study of democracy in Canada. It provides a great chance to visit the home of our provincial government and see many of the symbols and traditions that are part of our Alberta heritage.

We will leave the school at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Following is our schedule for the day:

9:30 a.m.                               Arrival

9:45 – 10:00 a.m.                Pehonan Theatre Booking

10:00– 10:30 a.m.               Borealis Gallery Booking

10:30 – 11:00 a.m.               Agora Interpretive Centre Booking

11:00– 11:45 a.m.               Lunch

12:00 – 1:00 p.m.                Mock Legislature

1:00 – 1:15 p.m.                   Photograph (Hon. Mark Smith)

1:15 – 2:15                             School Tours

2:30                                        Departure

The Grade six students from  Mrs. Wilson’s class will have an opportunity to tour the Legislature building, participate in a mock debate, and play a game which will test our knowledge of Alberta trivia.

As we are visiting a very special building, we have asked the students not to wear jeans but to dress up, if possible, please. We will be doing a great deal of walking so keep in mind that shoes need to be comfortable.

Everyone coming on the trip will need to bring a  lunch. There is a cafeteria in the Legislature building, but it will not be available for our use. The students will be able to bring a camera to take photos if they wish but electronic devices such as I-pods and cell phones are not permitted.

If you have any questions or require further information, please call Mrs. Wilson

Thank you,

Mrs. Jeanette Wilson
