Grade 4 Field Trip to Fort Edmonton
As part of our study of Alberta’s history, our grade four classes will be going to Fort Edmonton Park for a field trip on Monday, May 29. We will participate in a guided tour of the fort where we will learn about life in 1846, and we will find out how European people collaborated with Indigenous people to create a successful, diverse community. We’ll explore the trade store, the homes of the labourers and tradesmen, and the Chief Factor’s home.
We will leave the school by 8:20 in the morning and will return in time for dismissal at the end of the school day. We will tour the fort in the morning and will do a self-guided tour or the rest of the park in the afternoon. As this is a full day experience, students will need to bring a bag lunch. Students will also need to bring a water bottle with their name on it. We are hoping to make a stop at the confectionary store for ice cream. The cost would be about $5.00 per student. This cost is not part included in the field trip fee so your child would need to bring ice cream money with them.
The cost of the field trip is $13.00 per student. This includes transportation and our admission to Fort Edmonton Park. We would like to thank our PTA for their generous support in subsidizing the cost of our trip.
We will be outside for the majority of the time. Please ensure that students wear comfortable shoes that are suitable for walking, and that they have a jacket, hat, or sunscreen, depending on the weather.
Please sign and return one copy of the attached Blackgold Field Trip Consent Form. The second copy of this form is for your records and should be kept at home. Forms and payment are due by Thursday, May 18. Please pay for the field trip through our school’s PowerSchool Parent Portal on the “Student Fee” link.
If you require further information, please contact your child’s teacher.
